For my submission to Uniqlo’s globally recognized UTGP T-Shirt Grand Prix, I responded to the theme "CREATE THE FUTURE – Be Inspired by Play." To translate this concept onto a wearable canvas, I created a nostalgic digital collage depicting two children stepping out of a dull, monochrome reality and crossing through a doorway into a vibrant, colorful world. This surreal contrast encapsulates how unstructured play and childhood imagination serve as a bridge to a brighter, more innovative future—showing that the act of playing is ultimately how we dream up and build the world of tomorrow.
I designed a variety of shirts featuring this artwork paired with sublte typography adding context to the image for viewers. Ultimately, the final submission was narrowed down to just 3 versions.

I analyzed past UTGP winning entries and Uniqlo’s core graphic tee lineups to identify how successful designs balance artistic depth with retail appeal. This helped me bridge the gap between abstract storytelling and commercial wearable art, ensuring the artwork felt like a deliberate canvas rather than a standard graphic print.
The final submission features a high-resolution, multi-layered digital collage print layout specifically proportioned for Uniqlo's apparel templates. I developed two black t-shirt mockups that highlight the striking high-contrast artwork paired with restrained, thematic typography.
Designing for a global brand platform pushed me to balance strict template constraints with high-level narrative concepts. The project served as a strong exercise in translating complex editorial collages into commercially viable, retail-ready garments.

To ensure the visual narrative remained front and center, I structured the layout so that the collage artwork serves as the dominant focal point on a clean, black canvas. The only supporting element is a line of subtle, minimalist text reading "inspired by play we create the future", a quiet nod that ties the surreal imagery directly back to the contest’s core theme. This restrained compositional approach keeps the focus squarely on the storytelling while maintaining a clean, modern aesthetic suitable for Uniqlo's retail lineup.
