Navigation Ed. 1 is an apparel collection produced for my personal clothing brand, Visionair, featuring hand-screenprinted short sleeves, long sleeves, and hoodies. Having started Visionair in high school with limited technical design knowledge, returning to the brand after years of formal design education allowed me to apply professional software workflows, elevated typography, and strategic composition.
The collection takes its name from Navigation, a limited-edition artist book created for Visionair's print publication, Revision, which explores the philosophical concept of navigating life, translating those deep conceptual themes from the page directly into wearable art.

To lay the groundwork for the collection, I conducted an in-depth exploration of conceptual editorial layouts, nautical iconography, and traditional screen-printing techniques. I analyzed how the philosophical themes from the Revision artist book could be effectively translated from high-density page compositions into bold, balanced apparel graphics.
The collection features a comprehensive range of hand-screenprinted apparel, including custom short sleeves, long sleeves, and heavy-weight hoodies across five distinct graphic designs. To support the release, I created a cohesive set of professional product photos highlighting both the full garment silhouettes and close-up print details.
This project marked a major milestone for Visionair, successfully merging high-level editorial concepts with commercial apparel design through refined software workflows. Executing the entire process by hand—from original vector artwork to full-scale screen printing—validated my growth as a designer and established a elevated, mature visual direction for the brand.

This piece highlights a circular, highly detailed iteration of the Navigation logo, crafted exclusively for this release to anchor the collection's identity. The back graphic pairs original ocean line work—featuring a lone ship beneath a starry sky—with custom typography, translating the overarching themes of guidance and exploration from the Revisionpublication onto a wearable canvas.

This tee is one of five distinct designs directly adapting imagery and themes from the Navigation artist book, with each piece functioning like a visual chapter centered around a specific core question. The back of the shirt pairs clean, refined serif typography reading, "Understanding what holds you back is key to understanding how to move forward", a statement that distills the philosophical core of the entire release. To round out the collection, each graphic in this five-part series was also hand-printed onto a select run of premium hoodies.
